ABOUT H.E.S.B.
H.E.S.B. - Hoffmann European Strategic Base is a strategic industrial storage and logistics infrastructure developed by Hoffmann Group in Germany.
Located in Rheinland-Pfalz, near the Luxembourg border, H.E.S.B. combines a unique underground location, significant storage capacity and direct access to major European transport corridors.
The infrastructure has a history spanning more than seven decades. Originally developed during the Second World War by the French military for the storage of kerosene, the site was subsequently transformed during the 1970s for the storage of liquid food products and beverages.
Today, Hoffmann Group is developing the site into a modern strategic storage platform serving industrial, agricultural, food and logistics markets across Europe.
Our objective is simple:
To provide secure, reliable and flexible storage infrastructure for products and materials essential to European supply chains.
Location & Technical Information
Strategically located in Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany, near the Luxembourgish border, our storage facility is a marvel of engineering and historical significance.
Comprising 20 steel cisterns, each with a capacity of 200,000 liters, the facility is uniquely built into a mountain.
This ingenious design maintains a consistent all-season temperature of 8 degrees Celsius (46 degrees Fahrenheit), ideal for safeguarding products from heat damage and other environmental impacts.
Key features of our facility include:
- 20 steel cisterns for versatile storage.
- 3.96 million liters of total storage capacity.
- Each cistern holding approximately 200,000 liters.
- Regular maintenance, including yearly overhauls and monthly check-ups.
- Separate filling stations for cisterns and truck tankers.
- Manual filling process to ensure precision and safety.
- Security to guarantee the safety and integrity of stored goods.
- Capability to store liquids and grains up to 75mm in size.
- Office and Management Building of 220m2
